Congratulations!  You just purchased a Drivable Soil Base Delineator for the first time.

Now, it’s time to install it, but you say to yourself, ‘well, how complicated will this be?’.  Don’t worry, we have your back!

Tools you’ll need:

  • Permanent ink marker - to mark the depth to drive the square metal base into the ground
  • Hammer - for driving the base into the soil (if soil is highly compacted, a sledgehammer may be needed)
  • Scrap of 2”x 4” wood - to buffer between the hammer and the top of the square metal base so base does not deform
  • 3/8” socket and portable drill or regular screwdriver

Installation Instructions (please use appropriate safety gear!)

  1. Determine where to install the base. Considerations might include the distance a vehicle will
extend from the parking space towards the post, post alignment preferences, and if there are items underground
  2. Use the permanent ink marker to mark the desired depth to drive the square metal base. There should be about 2-inches remaining above ground level for easy attachment of the delineator to the square tubing. The top holes on the tubing will line up with the pilot holes in the spring assembly.
  3. Line up the square metal base so that after installation, the post will be in the correct orientation for messaging to a parking space or pedestrian traffic
  4. Place the scrap piece of wood on top of the square metal base then use the hammer or sledgehammer to drive the base into the ground. Drive the square metal base in the ground approximately 2”. Remove the base and dislodge the dirt and sod from the bottom to make
it easier to continuing to pound the tube into the soil. PLEASE NOTE: Do not use a hammer directly on the base as it may bend, and the spring assembly will not fit into the base.
  5. Continue to drive the square metal base into the ground until you reach the desired depth for post installation
  6. Use the socket or screwdriver to insert each hex screw through the washer and square metal base into the pilot hole for the spring assembly and tighten until snug. Repeat for the other three (3) screws and washers
