More and more municipalities, campuses and government institutions are creating codes and standards to protect pedestrians when vehicles cross their pathways.

The CAR COMING Sign is a self-contained system that warns pedestrians a vehicle is about to exit a parking garage or another type of blind spot. When a vehicle is detected, the CAR COMING SIGN activates a visual flashing alert and a recorded voice message stating “Attention, vehicles exiting. Watch for vehicles!” The alert system works to warn distracted pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers that they are crossing into each other’s pathways.

Pedestrians are rarely more vulnerable than when walking in urban areas, crossing busy streets and negotiating traffic. In 2019, an estimated 7,668 pedestrian died in traffic and non-traffic incidents, with 6,205 of those killed in traffic crashes on public roads, according to Injury Facts.

Additionally, distraction was a factor in 9 percent of all fatal crashes reported in 2019. Cellphone use was a factor in 13 percent of all fatal distraction-affected crashes.

The Car Coming sign is fully engineered and has a control system you can easily program to your specifications located inside the sign chassis. You will only need a triggering device such as a motion detector, parking exit gate, loop detector, or beam detector to activate the system when a car is detected exiting onto a sidewalk. The trigger sends a signal to the signs control board. Then the sign flashes and announces the pre-recorded voice alert for a time you can designate with a built-in audio activation timer.

If you are concerned about the voice alert disturbing nearby residents at night, an automatic On - Off Audio Timer Board can be added to turn off the audio message for a select number of hours.

The CAR COMING Sign is available in two wall mount options and is perfect for Parking Lots, Parking Ramps, Hotel Circles, Valet Lanes, and more.
